Our Olive Groves

Lake Trasimeno's Hills - Umbria, Italy

Our olive groves are nestled in the rolling hills surrounding Lake Trasimeno in Umbria, central Italy. This unique terroir, characterized by its microclimate and rich soil, has been cultivating exceptional olives for centuries.

Location & Terroir

The Colli del Trasimeno (Trasimeno Hills) benefit from a unique microclimate created by Lake Trasimeno, Italy's fourth-largest lake. The lake acts as a thermal regulator, protecting our groves from extreme temperatures and frost. The gentle slopes, optimal sun exposure, and well-draining calcareous soils create perfect conditions for our native olive varieties—Moraiolo, Frantoio, Leccino, and Dolce Agogia.

Harvest tradition in olive cultivation

Generations of Tradition

Our family has been cultivating these groves for generations, passing down traditional knowledge and sustainable practices. Each tree is cared for individually, pruned by hand, and harvested at the optimal moment of early maturity. This dedication to traditional methods, combined with modern understanding of olive cultivation, results in oil of exceptional quality and character.

Paciano & Lake Trasimeno: History and Tradition

Paciano is a medieval village founded in the 14th century, perched between the hills and Lake Trasimeno. This ancient fortified castle, once an outpost of Perugia against Tuscan incursions, has preserved its medieval structure intact with its three original gates and 14th-century walls. Recognized as one of 'The Most Beautiful Villages of Italy,' Paciano maintains fewer than 1,000 inhabitants and timeless authentic charm.

Lake Trasimeno, the largest lake in central Italy, has been a stage for history since Etruscan and Roman times. Its surrounding hills, inhabited by the ancient Umbri and then dominated by Etruscans and Romans, have always been dedicated to olive cultivation. These fertile lands, blessed by the lake's mild climate, have produced excellent extra virgin olive oil for centuries, recognized with the DOP Colli del Trasimeno designation.
